Benny Hinn defends luxury lifestyle in 100 million USD ministry

When asked whether he had any misgivings about the comfortable lifestyle he leads, including a private jet, fancy hotel stays and nice clothes – he immediately responded, «No».

Benny Hinn on stage in India. He wanted money in return for his expences, and got a handsome amount.

In a rare interview, controversial preacher and faith healer Benny Hinn laid some of his cards on the table, saying he’s been wanting to answer his critics for 20 years.

«I’m very pleased … because it’s time for me to tell it all» Hinn told ABC’s Dan Harris in an interview that aired Monday night. « don’t want people talking for me. I want to talk for myself»

For years, Hinn has been a subject of scrutiny by the media and recently the government for the miraculous healings he claims to do and the lavish lifestyle he leads. His ministry’s latest report from the «Fire Conference and Miracle Service» last month in New York states that teens were healed of leukemia, lung cancer and partial deafness.

«There were so many miracles of healing that people were lined along the sides of the auditorium from the front to the back waiting to come to the platform to testify of God’s healing touch», the report touts. Such conferences, held around the world, have brought in hundreds of thousands of dollars at a time to the ministry, all of which are donations from attendees, many of whom were seeking a physical healing.

No medical certificates

Hinn, who was born into a Greek Orthodox Christian family and later became a zealous charismatic, admitted to ABC that he doesn’t have medical verification of the healings and said some people who claimed they were healed on stage at the events were actually not.

He said, «These are things that I cannot explain because I am not the healer. I’m human like you».

When confronted with the question on whether he’s taking advantage of devoutly religious and vulnerable people for his own enrichment, Hinn said, «You cannot fool all the people all the time. I think if I was fooling the people, over 35 years of it now I would’ve been caught already fooling them».

Hinn and his ministry are currently under a Senate investigation for possible financial misconduct.

«I have nothing to hide», Hinn told ABC’s Harris. But Hinn’s ministry declined to turn over any of the documents to ABC.

This is the first interview in which Hinn has allowed questions regarding the investigation. He told Fox News earlier this month, «[The media] are never going to paint me as I want to be painted».

«But, really, it doesn’t matter as long as people give me the chance to talk» said Hinn, whose program is televised in over 200 countries.

Harris hit him with questions that many have been raising since Hinn began drawing millions of followers and dollars. Although the preacher’s publicist interrupted the taping a couple of times obviously concerned with the direction of the interview, Hinn insisted, «The questions [you] asked me, I’ve wanted someone to ask me for the last 20 years of my life»

When asked whether he had any misgivings about the comfortable lifestyle he leads – including a private jet, fancy hotel stays and nice clothes – he immediately responded, «No».

«Look, you know there’s this idea supposedly that we preachers are supposed to walk about with sandals and ride bicycles. That’s nonsense,” he said, noting that the private plane is “a necessity, not a luxury»

According to ABC, Hinn’s ministry collects an estimated $100 million a year. Hinn revealed that his salary is «over a half-million» but declined to give the exact figure.

«Let me just tell you this, my aim in life is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, that’s all I care about», said Hinn.

He insisted that it would be his pleasure not to receive a cent from the ministry for what he does. But that came with a condition – that he is at least «completely taken care of financially», whether it’s through a side job or the assistance of someone else.

Comment:

Dear Benny Hinn, and to people, who support you:

I do not know if you will ever read this:

Matthew 6:19

«Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal».

Matthew 19:24

«Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.»

Matthew 7:21-23

«Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers».

May these verses be a reminder to all of us. Both materialistic rich and poor (er) Christians.

  1. I’ve been to 2 different crusades in the U.S., and let me just say Jesus Christ is there. The annointing that falls just makes you weep at the Masters feet. If Benny Hinn were false the Lord would not be blessing those services. He’s not perfect, sure, but has he killed anybody and committed adultery with anybody, no. King David did and God still used him after his repentance. Why does the body of Christ love to tear apart someone else’s ministry when a controversy arises. Its between God and Benny about the finances, and Benny is on a salary and if he makes money off of the books he writes, heaven forbid, how dare a man make a profit off of his product.

    1. Dear Stephen.

Shalom, and welcome to this site. Thanks for this comment. I have used Bible verses in this article about Benny Hinn. If you feel I am quoting out of context, please correct me.

To follow Jesus is to Obey the Word of God. Benny Hinn can take the name of «Jesus», and miracles can take place. But do we make a mockery out of the Messiah with our lifestyle? Can we nullify the Bible verses I have used in this article?

Did you know that Benny Hinn once said he went to the grave of an occult lady named Kathryn Kuhlman to feel the «anointing»? Did you know that He took the name of The Spirit and said: Fidel Castro will die in the 90-ties?

When will the World ever listen and learn?

      1. I love this site, and see great truth in it. Like I said he is not perfect, and made some mistakes, but some in the body of Christ can’t get past that and are hell bent to tear down. I look to scripture in 2Kings 14:20-21 about what happened when they threw the mans body on the bones of Elisha and the man came back to life. Though Elisha was dead, the anointing was still there and the man was raised from the dead. I don’t agree that Kathryn was an occult lady, just sold out to Christ, with a heavy anointing upon her, so I don’t dismiss the reality that you couldn’t feel the “anointing” where she lay.
God bless and keep up the great site. I’ve sent it to several friends of mine.

      2. Dear Stephen.

        Thanks for blessings me.

This kind of comment keeps me blogging. I love you Stephen, and I love Benny Hinn. Believe me. I do no want to loose him, I know many people who have come to faith through the messages of Benny Hinn. I was my self a member of a Word of Faith fellowship for almost two years.

But I discovered that the Word of Faith teachings have many dark sides. One of them is their teachings of a Jesus that died spiritually on the cross. In many faith fellowships the Pastor has been elevated above the congregation, and made an idol. There is no proper broad New Testament leadership. A Word of Faith teacher is most likely a teacher of prosperity, and leads his flock astray to become seekers of their own material blessings. This is a very dangerous game with our souls.

Stephen. If you are in such a spiritual congregation, please be careful.

  2. Sorry brother, I too am a man who has fallen more than once and do not cast stones at others ministry. If we have the time to throw rocks, we have missed the time we should be sitting at Daddies feet. You know there is such a thing as dissagreeing and thats fine, but the problem is when that dissagreement becomes publicised at such a time as this.Brother you are not protecting the flock by making such comments. You are bringing up shame that has been forgiven and repented of long ago. Its a wise man who coceals a matter especially when there is repentance, restoration and forgiveness. We need to consider the last few words of Jesus in the book of John when Peter asks Him “what about this man” refering to the apostle John. What was the response of our Lord? It was basically “So what, let him do what he wants and dont pay any attention to him. You just make sure you follow me and dont get distracted”. That is really about what it amounts to in the body and there in no reason for us to keep up the silent condemnation when God has openly put it behind him. The remnant do not point out pasts mistakes that have been forgiven. The ‘remnant’ move on into the glory of our Lord. I agree fully with what Stephen has said and even more so.

    1. Dear Nathan.

Shalom, and welcome to this site. You dont have to say sorry. True Christians make many mistakes during their life.

This is not about you, I or Benny Hinn making mistakes. Its much more serious than that. It is about copy-cat-Jesus. Who are they?

      Matthew 24:5
For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Christ, ‘ and will deceive many.

      # 2 Corinthians 11:4
For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough.

If you are deceived to follow a copy-cat Jesus, you are in deep trouble. Why did Jesus of Nazareth have to warn us?

  3. To all who make judgements against Gods people, I want to say, I have been completely healed several times by Benny Hinns miniistry, Benny Hinn is a man of God. He has integrity and for all the religious people that are jellous of Gods Blessing on his life, I would say to you you will also be judged with the same judgement you judge others with. Do you know of any of Gods people that truly walked in obedience to God that God did not Bless? God Says he who gives to the poor give to God and God will repay them. He also states that the wealth of the wicked is laid up for the just and him who pities the poor.
Benny Hinn ministers greatly to the poor and he blesses widows and blesses Israel and if you want to be blessed do those things in obedience to God and you too will have the oportunity to be judged. What ever you give to God he gives you back in this life and in the life to come. I wonder if people really believe that God wants his children to be sick poor naked etc. How pathetic. He is my Father and like the prodical sons father said to the elder brother, all I have is yours to have at any time, it was meet that we celebrate for this my son was dead and now is returned to life. He was lost and now he is found.
Give and it shall be given to you with the same measure you mete it out it will be measured to you again.

    1. Dear Joanne.

Shalom, and welcome to this site.

      You wrote:

To all who make judgments against Gods people, I want to say, I have been completely healed several times by Benny Hinns ministry, Benny Hinn is a man of God.

      My reply:

First of all. To be healed by Benny Hinn`s ministry, seems like magic to me. And if you «have been completely healed» once, you do not have to be «completely healed» all over again.

      You wrote:

      My comment:

Jesus him self was hungry, sick, poor and naked. And people who are cursed did not give Him anything, explained in Matthew 25:31 onwards. You might call these words of Jesus pathetic.

      To the Church of Smyrna:

      Revelation 2:8:

“To the angel of the church in Smyrna write: These are the words of him who is the First and the Last, who died and came to life again. I know your afflictions and your poverty—yet you are rich! I know the slander of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.

The bible does say that many are the afflictions of the righteous and the Lord God delivers him/her from them all, (not sure what book chapter and verse that is). I can’t speak for Joanne, but she didn’t say it was the same ailment each and every time coming back.
I have been dealing with a twisted spine for over 15 years, causing my arms to go numb. I had surgery to deal with the numbness, but still had the twisted spine. The day before Thanksgiving of this year, my right leg popped out of it’s socket, Thanksgiving day was just as bad. The day after Thanksgiving, I woke up early with absolutely no pain or evidence it even happened. Then a little bit later I realized my spine felt straight and aligned up. I can move freely now. Only God could have done this.
I also am type 1 diabetic, and have cyatica on my left side.
So because God healed my spine that day and not my diabetes, doesn’t mean that my healing wasn’t from God, I will continue to trust in Him, for He’s the one that holds tomorrow.

    1. Dear Stephen.

Shalom, and thanks for this comment.

Yes, God healed you. And Jesus is the supreme Healer. But do not forget that we have received from the Father, a creation order. A body that in 90 per cent of all circumstances heals it self. Every minute, every day. Thats is a fantastic gift.

The creation order of healing is equally available for believers as well as non-believers. Thats why it is wise to be careful when people «come and heals» in the name of «Jesus». The healing gospel is no gospel at all. The gospel is all about forgiveness of sins, Jesus crucified, resurrected and the only way to Heaven.

Jesus healed in his present time because he had compassion on sick people. Jesus surely heals today. And often He heals with spectacular healing when doctors have given up on people with terminal sickness. But even that is also happening to Hindus, Muslims and Buddhists.

When Moses performed miracles in Egypt, the Egyptian magicians copied his acts. Satan is a copy-cat, and New Ages healers of today, are doing great miracles, and even healing people with healing stones and mantras of different kinds.

That only thing Satan will not do, Is to lead people towards the cross at Calvary. In the movement you give up your life in the flesh, and ask Jesus to heal your heart and soul, the devil has lost you.

    1. Dear Salem.

      Benny Hinn an Apostle?

      2 Corinthians 11:24-26

Five times I received from the Jews the forty lashes minus one. Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was stoned, three times I was shipwrecked, I spent a night and a day in the open sea, I have been constantly on the move. I have been in danger from rivers, in danger from bandits, in danger from my own countrymen, in danger from Gentiles; in danger in the city, in danger in the country, in danger at sea; and in danger from false brothers.

Well, I guess Benny Hinn must be what Paul paint as «super Apostle»?

When Hinn was in Bangalore in India he did hardly come out of his five start suite. And when he came out, He had promised the Indian Authorities not to preach against Hindu Idol worship.

      Thats quite an «anointing»….

  5. and thats quite sarcasm ivarjfeld. you credit my healing to a natural sort and I say wrong to that. My spine could not instantly change back to the norm from over 15 years of being out of place.
It seems that you are judging by the outward appearance of a man, but God knows the heart.

    1. Dear Stephen.

I am sorry! Please forgive me. I did not mean to hurt you. I tried to express that Jesus is the supreme healer, and that miracles take place. He heals terminal sickness, people whom the doctors have left to die.

Your healing is one of the great thing that Jesus is doing. Amen.

What I also tried to tell, was that the healing gospel is no gospel at all. Because if healing of our flesh was our ticket to Heaven, than there would be no one in Hell. Al of us has got a body from God that every day of our life, recovers and heals it self.

  6. forgiven with no hard feelings.
everyone has a different ministry upon their lives. some are servants, some prophecy, some healing, some workers of miracles, but all point to the evidence of the testimony and power of the cross. Jesus Christ is alive and well, death hell and the grave are defeated!
I agree with what you said, if the healing of our flesh is the ticket to heaven, then no one would be in hell. But that’s not the healing gospel. It is one of the promices that God has given us to stand upon, He pardons all our inequities, and heals all our diseases. Salvation and healing come together, that’s the gospel message.
    God bless

  7. Well to all those who do not test the spirit you need to read your bible. would you all compare hinn’s ministry and life style to billy graham’s
then maybe you would notice a big difference as to who really preaches Gods word.
Now his wife has filed for divorce . is that truely living a prosperous life.

Stop following the man and follow Christ Jesus the Son of God then the truth shall begin to become real to you
God bless you all and may Christ become whole in your heart

    1. Andrew: I’m not here to defend Benny Hinn, I’m here to defend scripture. You accused some of not testing the spirit, and that they do not read their Bible. You went on further to show how you test a preachers spirit by comparing their lifestyle to Billy Grahams’. That is not accurate. How to test a false prophet in the New Testament: What do they preach? Do they preach Jesus as coming in the flesh or not?
      1 John 4:1-3
      1) Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
      2) This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God,
      3) but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.

  8. I believe we should all quit judging another man’s servant. We should focus on that they preachhing the gospel as scripture says and thank God for that. God does not want us fighting over doctrine. We need to focus on our own calliing and seeking to be filled with the spirit.

    1. Dear Mary.

      Shalom.

Your statement is man made wisdom, not biblical.

      1 Timothy 1:3
[ Warning Against False Teachers of the Law ] As I urged you when I went into Macedonia, stay there in Ephesus so that you may command certain men not to teach false doctrines any longer

      1 Timothy 4:16
Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.

      2 Timothy 4:3
For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.

      Titus 1:9
He must hold firmly to the trustworthy message as it has been taught, so that he can encourage others by sound doctrine and refute those who oppose it.

A Christian is not suppose to let false teachers enter into the flock.

  9. Simple…Benny Hinn is a FALSE PROPHET…he gives Christianity a bad name with his lifestyle. All the healing ARE STAGED…

  10. There is far too much criticism of ministers of the Christian faith. Don’t critize the messanger…listen to the message and accept the healing. The Christian faith has far too many critics. Ministers criticising ministers, Christians Criticising Christians. Leave Benny Hinn alone, he is doing a great job and we should all thank him for his contribution to the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the Glory of GOD ALMIGHTY.

      1. Galatians 6:1
Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted

    1. Dear John Arthur.

Shalom, and welcome to this site.

I can see that you claim to be from the Benny Hinn Ministry. I did not understand your comment. Please clarify in a new comment.

  11. False prophet, false teacher, false healer…….yep seen Steel Magnolia’s well that story was based on a woman who he prophecied over that she would have several children…..hmmm………well it didn’t go that way. In real life the husband did not want her to have this baby and potentially lose her life……..wouldn’t want to be this man on the Bema Seat……Oy Vei…….thief!!!

  12. A couple pounds of Dry Ice, and something to chop it up Oh, um, dry ice will last many days if you can to Napa or at least have been publicly disgraced.
He would be paid sometimes half of what the rest of this country and the rest of the
people. Purpose, energy, power to do, and all that are undesirable are overcome.

  13. all I know is from my personal experience. An ex-Florida Sen. and his wife, who are big contributors to this preacher got me up on the stage with him 20 years ago,, and I’ve been in a nursing home from multiple sclerosis for 17 years now.. The woman told me I wasn’t healed because I did not have enough faith. It is my faith that keeps my sanity living in such hell for 17 years away from my family. I have nine children. Something physical.. Does happen in his meetings, but I did not feel like it was from the Holy Spirit. I can only have an opinion from my own personal outcome..
