Two wronged by Turkey becomes good friends

Israel, Greece mark growing ties with joint air force drill.

Benjamin Netanyahu and George Papandreou does not have much in common. But both are in trouble with Turkey.

Israel’s Air Force on Monday concluded a two-week drill with the Hellenic Air Force.

This happend as the two nations cemented growing ties between their militaries, recently reflected in Greece’s recent move to halt a Gaza-bound flotilla set to depart from its shores.

The joint drill was held at Greece’s Larisa Air Base, and several elite Israeli squadrons, along with the IDF’s elite rescue unit 669 took part in the exercise along with the Greek military.

Over the past few days Greece has been working to stop the pro-Palestinian flotilla from departing to Gaza. On Sunday, the Greek government offered to transport the flotilla’s aid to Gaza as a compromise in order to end the affair.

A new beginning, or just an alliance in their deep need to counter Turkey?

According to the Greek initiative, the humanitarian aid aboard flotilla ships will be loaded onto watercraft.

The Greek government has offered to transfer the goods to Gaza via the organized channels.

This was requested by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon two weeks ago.

This means the aid would go through either the Ashdod port or Arish, and from there be taken to the Gaza Strip under the supervision of Greek and UN authorities.

My comment:

The relationship between Israel and Greek has never been easy. Growing antisemitism in the Greek Orthodox Church has made Israel embarrassed on several occasions.

But nowadays, geopolitics creates new alliances fast. While the influence of Turkey is growing, Greece is on the brink of bankruptcy.

Israel does not have many friends, and the growing threat from Turkey needed to be countered.

The old saying again becomes reality: “My enemy’s enemy is my best friend”.

Turkey has always been hostile to Greek national interest, and do occupy the Northern part of Cypress. Turkey also support Hamas, a major treat to the Jewish state.

Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses.

That Israel managed to stop the Gaza piracy flotilla at the harbor of Athene is a great diplomatic victory for Israel.

How much cash Israel had to put on the table, to sweeten the bid, we will only come to know in the future. 

But what is wrong to offer some cash to a friend who is so short of cash, that he has to borrow money to buy a cup of tea?

Fox News Twitter hacked; says Obama dead

In likely July 4th hoax, news network’s politics feed sends out multiple tweets that US president was shot and killed in Iowa.

Obama is always kept safe by Secret Service. Only tehnology loopholes can bring him down and out.

Fox News fell victim to hackers early Monday morning who took control of the network’s politics Twitter feed announcing multiple times that US President Barack Obama had been shot and killed.

The rogue transmissions began just before 2am Washington D.C. time with a tweet that read “Just regained full access to our Twitter and email. Happy 4th.”

Approximately 20 minutes later the Twitter feed said “@BarackObama has just passed. The President is dead. A sad 4th of July, indeed. President Barack Obama is dead.”

A few short minutes later, the initial tweet claiming Obama was dead was followed by a slightly more detailed transmission: “@BarackObama has just passed. Nearly 45 minutes ago, he was shot twice in the lower pelvic area and in the neck; shooter unknown. Bled out.”

Subsequent tweets repeated the information, stating that Obama was shot while eating at a restaurant in Iowa where he was campaigning and vowing to catch the shooter.

The hoax tweets ended with a good luck message for US Vice President Joe Biden, who would take over the presidency in the event of Obama’s death. “We wish @joebiden the best of luck as our new President of the United States. In such a time of madness, there’s light at the end of tunnel.”

Fox News on Monday apologized for the embarrassing tweets. “Hackers sent out several malicious and false tweets claiming that President Obama had been assassinated. Those reports are incorrect, of course, and the president is spending the July 4 holiday with his family. The hacking is being investigated, and FoxNews.com regrets any distress the false tweets may have created,” a statement by the network said.

Tasteless Jew-Nazi-remark by US Lawmaker

Democrat John Binienda compared lobbyists to wear ID badges to Nazi tattooing of Jews during Holocaust‬‬.

John Binienda should go to Jerusalem, and pay the Holocaust Museum a visit.

He apologized on Thursday.

The Massachusetts state lawmaker regretted  a remark comparing a Republican proposal that would require lobbyists to wear ID badges to the Nazi tattooing of Jews during the Holocaust.

House Republicans last week proposed a set of ethics reforms in response to the recent corruption conviction of former Massachusetts Speaker Salvatore DiMasi and an associate.

Among the proposals was a plan for lobbyists to wear visible identification badges to seek access to House members or staff.

John Binienda, a Democrat from Worcester, told the State House News Service on Wednesday that the ID badges plan was “revolting,” and compared it to Adolf Hitler having Jewish people tattooed in concentration camps.

The lawmaker, chairman of the Massachusetts House Rules Committee, recanted after his comments sparked outrage.

My comment:

To demand a ID-badge on lobbyists inside of Parliaments, is like belling the cat. Not all lawmakers like this for obvious reasons. They do not want their money providers to be exposed.

The US Lawmaker who felt this kind of badges would identify a “Jew” within the system, should be given free ticket to the Holocaust Museum in Jerusalem. First after his fresh knowledge about what this genocide is all about, an apology should be announced and accepted. Crocodile tears are not always priceless.

Vatican multi million dollars industry loose steam

The donations were down 18 per cent in 2010.  Still the Vatican collected 341 million USD, and made a profit. 

Less money was collected for the Papacy in 2010. Still the Pope and his staff made a handsome profit.

The Vatican has returned to profit after three years in the red.

But the donations from the faithful fell nearly euro15 million (USD 22 million), or 18 percent. The reason is tough economic times and a year in which the priest sex abuse scandal exploded.

The Vatican issued its annual financial report Saturday, saying it made a profit of euro 9.85 million (USD 14.3 million).

In 2010 following a loss of euro 4.01 million (USD 5.8 million) a year earlier and losses in 2007 and 2008.

Revenues were euro 245.2 million (USD 356.1 million) against expenses of euro 235.35 million (USD 341.8 million).

In a statement, the Vatican said the results showed a continuing positive trend that began in 2009 but was hampered then by the effects of the global financial downturn.

The separately administered Vatican city state also turned a euro 21.04 million (USD 30.6 million) profit, thanks primarily to booming ticket sales at the Vatican Museums.

But donations from individuals worldwide, the so-called Peter’s Pence, were down US USD14.8 million at US USD 67.70 million in 2010, an 18 percent drop from the year before. No explanation was given in the statement.

The abuse scandal also erupted in 2010 in Europe, traditionally a top source of donations after the U.S. Tens of thousands of people have either formally or informally left the Catholic Church in the wake of reports that priests sexually abused thousands of young people and bishops covered up the crimes.

Jesus was not to happy with people who turned the Temple in Jerusalem into a market place. He tilted their tables, and drove them out.

To run “a Church” as a business unit, is another example of the wickedness of men.

That the Vatican has “returned to profit” is a message that confirm that the papists are a group of people who have made a religion to make profit.
