Prayer Beads Sold to Support Interfaith Harmony Week

On the United Nations-sponsored website, they are selling Interfaith prayer beads that can be used by most major religions: Buddhists, Muslims, Catholics and Hindus.

They are using the bead money to financially support World Interfaith Harmony Week.  Ironically, these beads are made in the Holy Land. They boast, their beads can even be used by non-religious as worry-beads to help decrease stress.

The UN explains the bead benefits on their sponsored website:

“Prayer beads can be found in various religious traditions: Muslims know them as misbaha, Hindus and Buddhists as japa mala, and Roman Catholics as rosaries. The essential purpose of praying and meditating with beads is to enable inner integration of mind and heart. As the beads move through one’s fingers, keeping track of the number of prayers or mantras being said, full spiritual consciousness is devoted to those meditations Prayer beads thus have physical, psychological and metaphysical effects on the people who use them. They can even be used in a secular context as ‘worry beads’ to relieve stress due to their calming effect.”

You can read more about these beads on the UN web site here.

My comment:

The UN’s attempt to bring all religions together as one is picking up speed. This agenda was sparked by the document “A Common Word” in which Christans and Muslims unite in inter-religious dialogue. You can read more on the document here.

  1. PutYHWH1st says:

Deuteronomy 4:23 Take heed unto yourselves, lest ye forget the covenant of YHWH, which he made with you, and make you a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, which YHWH hath forbidden thee.
I was trying to find the verse that says you shall not worship in repetitive prayers like the heathen do

    • Ed says:

Matthew 6:7 New Living Translation (©2007)
“When you pray, don’t babble on and on as people of other religions do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again.

      • ivarfjeld says:

        Dear Ed.

        Shalom.

Who are the babblers from spiritual Babylon?

I feel the Roman Catholic “rosary prayer” is a good example…They repeat the same line, again and again, as if God of the Bible needs to be fed with a spoon.

And they repeatedly hail a human being, a sinner, and elevate her as divine goddess, “the mother of God”….

What they do is a grave sin, presented as something Holy. It is blunt blasphemy.

      • Ed says:

I agree that’s one good example of repetetive prayers.
Even praying in public to be seen by others..vain praying.
“The prayers of the wicked are an abomination to God”
All in all It seems they just wont get answered unless they appeal to God.
He said to Kain, “If thou doest well shalt thou not be rewarded?”
When you get it right, for the right reasons he answers.

Somewhere in there it says let your conversations with God be yea or nay. Ask questions that can be answered by yes or no. “Any question which cannot be answered by yes or no is of the devil”

      • ivarfjeld says:

        Dear Ed.

        Shalom.

Let me try you, on the message of “yes” or “no”, the only valid replies to all questions:

        - What time is it?

      • Gloria says:

        Ed,

Your Comment: Somewhere in there it says let your conversations with God be yea or nay. Ask questions that can be answered by yes or no. “Any question which cannot be answered by yes or no is of the devil”

My Comment: Ed, I’ve never read that in the bible at all. And my conversations with Christ have never been just a yes or a no.

True Example: I prayed to Christ to watch over my son and daughter. I went to church a few days later, and my Pastor’s brother told me: I don’t know what you’ve prayed to Christ about, and Jesus has not told me. But he wanted me to tell you: That he is watching over your children.

        God Bless

    • Ed says:

Know you not what time it is, why doest thou tempt me?? haha Well perhaps it means keep it simple.

Matt 5:37 Simply let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.

      • ivarfjeld says:

        Dear Ed.

        Shalom.

There you hit the nail on the head.

Jesus will ask: Do you want to follow me?

Well, my bike is punctured, and I have to take my daughter to the beauty parlor. Now I have to wait for the taxi to come, and than rush home and ask my Father in law….Bla, bla ,bla, bla

      • Gloria says:

Ahhh so 5:37 actually comes under the topic of Oaths.

        Oaths

33“Again, you have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘Do not break your oath, but keep the oaths you have made to the Lord.’ 34But I tell you, Do not swear at all: either by heaven, for it is God’s throne; 35or by the earth, for it is his footstool; or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the Great King. 36And do not swear by your head, for you cannot make even one hair white or black. 37Simply let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No’; anything beyond this comes from the evil one.

      • ivarfjeld says:

        Dear Gloria.

        Shalom.

        Yes. Oaths. Bingo.

Jesus will ask: Do you want to follow me?

The only correct answer is: Yes.

        Than go and get baptized.

No, you see, my mother did, even though I can not remember, and no one asked for my permission, so in a couple of years time, bla, bla, bla, bla.

I’ve had one prayer I believe was answered. Smoked for 20 years I tried to quit smoking and it only ever lasted till the next craving. I said in private “Lord Lord, got a painless way to quit smoking”? About a month later I had some strange things happen, heard voices, dreamed dreams and saw visions, over the course of three days. The last thing I heard came as a punch line, very unexpectedly he said “one more cigarette and you will die” I haven’t had one since, the craving was totally gone and it was painless, no withdrawls or nothing. Haven’t had any more dreams visions or heard the voices again either though, they were cool, better than drugs.

      • Gloria says:

To Ivar, another reason why for example Matt 5:37 shouldn’t be read alone, without reading the entire chapter, or at least the verses surrounding God’s Word.

To Ed, Iam thankful to Christ for so many things. Most recent, my son took some tests where they thought he had kidney problems. I told Jesus: God my son is in your hands. I leave everything in your hands.

I took him back to the doctor. They said: Why is your son here? He is perfectly health. I cannot see anything wrong with him.

I love Jesus Christ! He’s the absolute best :-)

      • Victoria says:

        Ed,
It seems that Jesus knows that fear gets you doing right. I think if you feared God a little more you would be more careful when you venture off into false beliefs, like when you said no water baptism is needed, and when you suggested God being the father of Cain. And I think there were some other different beliefs you expressed here.
I hope you don’t mind me saying that to you. I just feel like I had to tell you that after reading how the voice told you “one more cigarette and you will die.”
        Ed said:

Thank you for sharing when Jesus helped you to stop smoking. Your testimony makes me want to share mine too. Maybe our testimonies will help someone to stop smoking. When I became saved and tried to quit, every day around noon I would smoke, I couldn’t even make it a whole day. After not smoking all night and morning, by noon I felt the strong cravings through out my whole body…every cell in my body was affected. I couldn’t handle the cravings the devil used to make me give in and smoke, the cravings that came from my blood being cleaned of nicotine. On day three of trying to quit, I got up from the couch and started walking to get a cigarette, like I gave in to do every day of trying to quit. But this time I said out loud “Jesus, I can’t live like this with these cravings, I’m going to get a cigarette.” Just then Jesus spoke to me, out loud in the room, He said “feel that as my love for you.” I did as Jesus said, I felt those cravings as the love of Jesus, flowing through out my whole body and every cell.
After that I did not desire a cigarette, and my eyes were opened up to the ugly sin it is. I could look at other people who smoked and see the chain the devil had on them.
I love Jesus so much. There is nothing more important than being saved.

      • Ed says:

You say false beliefs because you don’t understand them the same. Who makes you the author of truth? Can you explain Gen 6:2 “sons of God” and the “daughters of men” I’d don’t knowingly publish any false beliefs. And I’m still on the fence about what consitutes baptism..the water or the belief in Jesus. One belief is for sure though. It was the woman who was in the transgression, not the man. haha And I’ll tell you what, that supports my Cain as one of the “sons of God” theory. He took after his mom, Adam had nothing to do with it.

1 timothy 2:14 And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner.

How many people say that we are atoning for Adams sin? Who is the false teacher?

      • Victoria says:

        Ed said:

“Who makes you the author of truth?”

The author of Truth is Jesus.

When you read some of the scriptures, you go beyond what is written, you not only go beyond what is written, you also don’t believe what you read is enough.

Like what you wrote about God being the father of Cain…that is just wrong. You not only add to the scriptures, you also try to change what the scripture says.

You ask about the sons of God in Genesis 6:2. Many believe those were angels who left their post and married daughters of men. Angels have the ability to take the form of humans. Also these angels had giant children with these woman, and these children were called Nephilim.

As for water baptism…you say “And I’m still on the fence about what consitutes baptism..the water or the belief in Jesus.”

People who believe in Jesus get water baptized. I hope that answers your question.

And as for your question about who is the false teacher…the answer is you are. You are the false teacher when it comes to water baptism and Adam not being the father of Cain.

      • Victoria says:

Also, Ed, you don’t understand the scriptures about Adam and Eve sinning. Adam sinned knowingly; Eve sinned because she was deceived.
Are you trying to support your false beliefs with some of your false understandings of scripture?

      • Ed says:

Yeah, the author of truth is Jesus.

1 cor 14:36 What? came the word of God out from you? or came it unto you only?

Where is it in scriptures about these fallen angels or the nephilim or that Eve had sex with the serpent and made reptilian people?

Seems a lot more realistic that it meant Kain and his descendants. And that the son to replace Abel was Jesus. Seth himself the son of man was not the immediate replacement. But Jesus by the immaculate conception of Mary was the replacement.

Probably that’s why Paul said not to let women teach because like Eve they are incapable of admitting fault. Like her disobedience she blames on the snake for beguiling her.

      • Ed says:

1 timothy 2:14 and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor.

      • Victoria says:

        Ed,
I can see that when the truth is given to you, you don’t always take it, nor do you take good advice.

Now I’m done talking with you, because you said:

“Where is it in scriptures about these fallen angels or the nephilim or that Eve had sex with the serpent and made reptilian people? Seems a lot more realistic that it meant Kain and his descendants. And that the son to replace Abel was Jesus. Seth himself the son of man was not the immediate replacement. You are tossed around all over the place with falseness. The sad thing is is it sounds like you are making it up all on your own without help from a false teacher.

      • Ed says:

Not a problem. On the baptism arguement you might consider how he offered the water of life without a means to draw any water from the well.

John 4:11 Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water?

      • Victoria says:

Ed, since you asked me, I want to see if I can help you out here.

        You said:
“Not a problem. On the baptism arguement you might consider how he offered the water of life without a means to draw any water from the well.
John 4:11 Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water?”

The living water is the Spirit.
John 7:37-39 On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” 39 By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.

      • Victoria says:

Water baptism is symbolic, an illustration. See Romans 6:4…
We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
Water baptism is an illustration, and a pledge to God. See . See 1 Peter 3:21 and this water symbolizes baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of dirt from the body but the pledge of a clear conscience toward God. It saves you by the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

Jesus was water baptized! And we are commanded to be baptized. See Acts 2:38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
And we are to be baptized, even if the Holy Spirit is already given to you. See Acts 10:47 Then Peter said, “Can anyone keep these people from being baptized with water? They have received the Holy Spirit just as we have.”

      • Ed says:

In John 4:11 after she asked about this living water he started to tell her everything she had ever done. (performed a miracle and taught) Getting water from the well was not a priority, she even left her water pot behind.
I cor 10:2 explains those baptized into Moses by the miracle of the parting of the red sea and the cloud that led them in exodus were baptized into Christ.
Obviously it has a purpose but does not seem to be necessary for everybody.

      • Victoria says:

The water from the well had nothing to do with what the living water Jesus spoke of. The living water is the Holy Spirit. Why are you having such a hard time with this?

What is keeping you from getting water baptized? Why would you tell someone not to do it? Are they on their death bed?

      • Ed says:

I don’t think you need someone to pour water on you. I’m a bare necessity type I guess, when it comes to religion and hoops, particularly hoops.

        Acts 11:17
So if God gave them the same gift as he gave us, who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to think that I could oppose God?”
When they heard this, they had no further objections and praised God, saying, “So then, God has granted even the Gentiles repentance unto life.”

“I don’t think you need someone to pour water on you. I’m a bare necessity type I guess, when it comes to religion and hoops, particularly hoops.”

I guess you think John the baptizer and all those who baptized and were baptized didn’t really need to and were just religious and jumping through hoops? Being water baptized isn’t religion, like you say. Jesus was baptized. I guess you have a hard time humbling yourself and following directions.

To give a human example – you probably don’t believe in a wedding ceremony either? Maybe your wife would like one? Though water baptism is more than just some ceremony…it’s a command of God. I think the Father likes ceremonies, like a big Wedding and the Wedding Supper that will happen one day.

When you read about Peter speaking of the water when Noah and his family were saved, and Paul when he speaks of the parting of the sea…you can think of how you didn’t want to bother with the water in baptism of your pledge to God.

      • ivarfjeld says:

        Dear Victoria.

        Shalom.

Thanks for telling Ed, and all other viewers the truth.

        Relativism is not Christianity.

Liberal readers of the Bible, says: “The message might have a different meaning”.

I say: Idiots. How are you able to read an air-ticket? Did you ever managed to read any instructions properly?

      • Ed says:

        Whatevah…

      • Victoria says:

Thank you Ivar for the thanks. We didn’t get through to Ed, but maybe we helped someone else who has been reading along.

      • Ed says:

Ivar you worker of iniquity. You claim to be baptized but do not set your right foot forward. Why did you interject between my whatevah and the post it was meant to respond to?

  2. tom says:

Thanks to Jesus I don’t need prayer beads, nor to bow in any specific direction, nor to grow a beard and wear odd clothes, nor to pray a certain amount of prayers a day reciting various mantras and chants, nor to wash my hands and feet and bow to idols etc etc. I simply enter His gracious presence in humility with praise and requests that are on my heart, asking His Father in His name whilst at the same time making the effort to live in a way pleasing to him, prayer beads, these are no different than the prayer wheels of tibet, they achieve nothing.
