Joel Osteen: «Obama is a Christian, doing a good job»

Charismatic mega Church prosperity teacher Joel Osteen brands the US President as «A good Christian, who is doing a good job in a difficult time».

Joel Osteen and his wife

These questions came to mind while watching Joel Osteen and his lovely wife, Victoria, on CNN’s “Larry King Live” last week. King pointed out that many Americans are still confused about Obama’s religion and asked, «Does it matter?»

«Well, it matters to me,« said Osteen. «It matters to me that I know he loves the Lord, and I think it’s important that he has convictions from his faith. So to me, it matters when I’m making my personal decisions».

Mrs. Osteen weighed in, too: «It does. It matters to me. … I believe he is a Christian».

My comment:

The Holy Spirit shall leads us into the truth, and all the truth. Joel Osteen is one of the leading global preachers of the false Prosperity Gospel. He can be seen on God TV, and on other prominent claimed to be Christian TV-stations.

This comment by the American preacher and his wife, makes me more sure about what I already knew. That both Obama and Joel Osteen is serving the same Lord. But it is not God of Bible, and His Messiah.

How can i be so blunt with Obama?

Well in Cairo, Obama spoke about «The Holy Koran», and branded Islam as a peaceful religion.

When Jesus walked on Earth, there was neither Muslims, nor a book called the Koran. The Koran is full of errors. It has deleted the Covenant people, the offspring of Isaac and Jacob.  In Islam, there in not place for Jews, nor Christians who claims to have been saved by a Son of King David, the Jewish Messiah Jesus of Nazareth.

If Joel Osteen was a Christian, The Holy Spirit would have told him to expose men like Obama.

Good morning. This story shows that we’re in a time when folks no longer endure sound doctrine but heap to themselve teachers, having itching ears. There’s a profound vacancy these days in the area of discernment. Thanks for shedding light on this story and exposing this error.

    Blessing always in Jesus name.

    Dear Timebob.

    Thanks for this comment.

I agree with you. And again, lets keep men like Joel Osteen in our prayers. I have been saved by mercy and grace. I will surely commit mistakes, just like all other human beings. To be able to walk with Jesus, we need His mercy every day, and His corrections that we always receive in love.

While I did not vote for Obama, nor will I in 2012, I did note that he has said on several occasions that he is a Christian and that Jesus Christ is his Lord & Savior. Putting aside for a moment whether you believe him or not, he has declared this before the whole world. Jesus said, “If you declare me before men, I will declare you before my father in Heaven.” Becasue he has declared Jesus before men, I don’t believe any of us should declare Obama unsaved. Osteen took Obama at his declared word and I think Osteen would have been foolish to declare him unsaved. As far as Obama doing a good job, we can debate that with Osteen all day, however, I suspect Osteen was merely being respectful of our president — which is a Biblical.

    • ivarfjeld says:

      Dear Don.

I do not disagree with you. I can not read Obamas heart, nor can Joel Osteen. But, there is a but: I can listen to what Obama says about Islam. And that makes me more than worried. Its not lip service that saves, but Jesus who saves those who obey Him. Whatever it is, we need to pray for the President of the US, and the American Government. That is Biblical. Messianic Christians cant even think of a single soul getting lost.

    Hi folks!
Actually, Muslims do believe in Jesus as the True and only Christ (messiah), born of the Virgin Mary

We just dont believe that Jesus was God, or His son –

Jesus worshipped and obeyed God, and taught everyone to do the same. We as Muslims, try our best to do that. The Lords prayer that Jesus taught, according to Christians – involves nothing of worshipping Jesus. It is to worship God alone,

-Peace and love to those who follow Guidance,
God’s guidance, is the only guidance

    • ivarfjeld says:

      Dear Bidal.

      Shalom.

If you dont believe that Jesus is God, God the Son, you live in error. If Jesus is not God, He can not take away your sins. If Jesus is not God, he only died on the cross in Jerusalem. But Jesus did not only die, when he was nailed to the cross for your sins. My Lord resurrected, he defeated death. Death could not hold the author of life. Jesus is alive. He appeared to 500 witnesses, and today He sits in Heaven at the right hand of God the Father. And He is soon coming back to judge the World.

Muhammad was a man. He died. He is no more. He cant save anyone, not even him self. Muhammad is not coming back.

Live you Islamic faith, and start to live for Jesus of Nazareth. He will give you a new heart, and also raise you from the dead on your last day. Amen.

You all are so caught up in your stupid religions, what you forget is tolerance. Everyone is seeking God in their own way. People always want to tell others what is true, better but they forget humanity. Osteen is awesome and so is Obama. I can not think of any other president in the WORLD that has excited and given so much hope for a change. I am sure he will do a GREAT job, alone for his tolerance of other people. I have people in my family that are bornagain Christians and Muslims and we learned to get along and love each other and not preach to each other, that is TOLERANCE!

    • ivarfjeld says:

      Dear Funda.

Love in Jesus from Nazareth. Do you know him?

    • Dallas Kirk says:

It sounds to me like Satan has won the round in your family. He has quietened the Word of God. That is exactly what he wants. If the Word of God is quite than who can hear the truth and be saved?

    • Gail says:

Change all right. We are at war you idiot. Did you have a daughter that died at the WTC? Did you live there and work there and now a mosque? Muslims are not tolerant of us and want to kill us. O hates America is on another flip/flop planet full of politicians. Wake up & smell the coffee. As for Osteen, he means well and is inspirational.

  6. peter otieno oredo says:

i like the preacher and his preaching also believed that through jesus we can repend. gddy .am akenyan who is ready to lean more about joel osteen ministry.

  7. ivarfjeld says:

    Dear Peter.

    Shalom.

Why do so many Christians die as martyrs, if it was God´s will that all of us should prosper and become rich and famous like Joel Osteen?

John the Baptist was be headed when Jesus walked on Earth, still Jesus said that no one greater then Him had been born?

Why was Stephen stoned? Did He misunderstand the true faith?

Is the purpose of our faith to have fleshy and worldly desires, just like Joel Osteen is preaching?

  8. Evan says:

If someone accuses Christians of forcing their worldview on others, and tells them to stop preaching and telling people that Jesus is God because it’s wrong to force your values on others, aren’t you forcing your values on Christians?
Isn’t it just as much of a worldview and religion as Christianity is to believe that all religions are true/false and that people shouldn’t actually follow out the implications of their faith in order to maintain “peace”?

Suppose Jesus is God, and all who do not believe in Him are going to hell. Is it really love to keep that fact to yourself?

And, if all religions are true, then that clearly violates the law of Non-Contradiction. There is one God over all, there can not be “multiple ways to recognizing the elephant”, because the various world religions make truth claims that are the exact opposite of each other in some instances.

    Peace to you all.

  9. sunny says:

When Jesus walked the earth there were no Christians. The organized religion called Christianity started many years after his death, the gospels were written many years after his death. Jesus was not a blond, blue eyed dude either. He was not from Utah or the USA. So stop making things up so that it sounds good for American Christians who are a group of cult followers. the biggest mistake that was ever made was the Christianize West. The hijacking of an Eastern religion for the sake of amassing wealth by Westerners. Americans also claim, karate, Buddhism, yoga and other Eastern teachings as theirs. Stop this already!!

    • ivarfjeld says:

      Dear Sunny.

Shalom, and welcome to this site.

You are both right and wrong. Already when Jesus walked on Earth He had Jewish students and followers. They studied the Hebrew scriptures together.

Jesus was not from Burma, neither was He a Buddhist. He was Jewish. There is no truth in any claim that He was promoting any Eastern Religion. Jesus came to serve God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob (Israel), God of the Hebrews.

  10. dennis says:

you should not compare them since joel is a preacher and obama is a president despite the fact that we all are Gods people lets not intimidate any one of them whether muslim or christian we serve the same God

    • Gloria says:

      Dennis,

We do not serve the same God, because there is only one God. Everything else is a lie from satan. What the muslims serve is a lie from the devil. The bible is clear on false idols and prophets.

      1 John 4:1
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.

      Matthew 7:21
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

      1 John 4:1-6
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already. Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. They are from the world; therefore they speak from the world, and the world listens to them. …

    • ivarfjeld says:

      Dear Dennis.

Shalom, and welcome to this site.

      You wrote:

whether Muslim or Christian we serve the same God

      My reply:

We do not. The Muslims do not accept that Jesus is God the Son. They do not accept that man can only be saved by being washed by the blood of Jesus. The true God is One. Father, Son and Spirit is One God, always in agreement.

    • jerry Buenavista says:

really? is it true that all people served God?

  11. Ed says:

    Prosperity message gosple,

Jesus put it in the law saying “ye are Gods” so that he could later identify himself as God without committing Blasphemy. The last line of Psalm 82 clearly Identifies David was referring to Christ.

Psalm 82:7-8 But ye shall die like a man, and ye princes shall fall like others. O God, arise, therefore judge thou the earth: for thou shalt inherit all nations.

    Psalm 82
John 10:34 Jesus answered them saying “Is it not written in your law, I said ye are Gods”.
John 10:36 Say ye of him, whom the father has sanctified, and sent into the world, thou blasphemest because I have said, I am the Son of God?
John 10:37 If I do not the works of the father believe me not.

If you walk the earth sinless before the lord call yourself a God. If not it’s probably not a good idea.

    • Ed says:

Sorry to take up so much posting space but doesn’t psalm 82 seem to prophesy that the God who will judge the earth would be a prince and die like a man. Muslims believe the prophets but write off Jesus because he died like a man?
Then Jesus said in John 10:37 If I do not the works of the father believe me not. What are the works of the father? The father sent us the prophets. So perhaps he meant if he did not fit the description of him in the prophesies believe him not. “ye are gods” is a loophole only he could fit through.

      • ivarfjeld says:

        Dear Ed.

        Shalom.

Please never say sorry for posting comments on this blog. A true Christian can never get enough of Bible verses, quoted correctly to explain spiritual matters.
